Pedal for Pounds - South. (2011)
George Miles is once again working with Yorkshire Cancer Research to organise a charity ride in the area to the east of Doncaster, that being the area around Wroot, Owston and Misterton. This years date is a lot earlier than last year, it`s SUNDAY, AUGUST 21st. The B.R.C. club run on August 21st just happens to be WROOT !!!! Yorkshire Cancer Research have a lot of experience in raising funds for this worthy cause and I trust that ALL our members will take some part, be it riding, marshalling or helping out in what ever way you can to make this event a resounding success.
I am sure that most of our members at some time have been touched in some way by this terrible desease, maybe a friend, a Grandparent, a Parent or someone even closer. Cancer can strike anybody, (unlike other problems that can be avoided with a healthier lifestyle), even people that are fit like us cyclists can find ourselves suffering from it, so lets make this event on the 21st August 2011, that carries the Barnsley Road Club name, a special one and show why we are Yorkshire`s premier cycling club, - help find a cure for Cancer.

2010 Torrential rain nearly spoilt the day, but the 50+ people that still took part all had a smile on their faces despite being wet through, it was a pleasure for me & Pete to marshall for them and Y.C.R. G.M. ----------------------------------------------------------------
